A legend from Lucca tells that in particular light conditions it is possible to see a green sparkle coming from the statue; it would be, according to the legend, an emerald, set in ancient times and never found. Some sources, mostly from elderly inhabitants of the city, confirm having seen the phantom sparkle, but it has never been proven that an emerald is set in the work, which is also highly unlikely.

A detail of the Florence Cathedral.
The Florence Cathedral, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, is one of the most famous monuments of the Tuscan city, cradle of the Italian Renaissance. In the photo, in particular, you can see the lunette above the main door.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, commonly known as the Florence Cathedral, is the main church of Florence, the symbol of the city and one of the most famous in Italy; when it was completed in the fifteenth century, it was the largest church in the world, while today it is considered the third in Europe after St. Peter's in Rome and the Milan Cathedral. It stands on the foundations of the ancient cathedral of Florence, the church of Santa Reparata, in a part of the city that has hosted places of worship since Roman times.
