Un casolare in via Nazionale a Sestri Levante. In via Nazionale, a Sestri Levante nel tratto che va dal ponte romano fino al Tannino, ci sono diversi casolari che ormai sono stati inglobati dalle altre case. Hanno proprio la forma di case di campagna con una entrata che da su un chiostro centrale. In questo, per esempio, ci sono dei parcheggi; poco più in giù ve ne è un altro con un ingrosso di frutta e verdura.

A corner of Via Nazionale in Sestri Levante. An unusual shot of Via Nazionale: without traffic, don't you think? In reality, I took this photo at the end of last year's lockdown when the streets were still deserted. What can I say, you can't see much from this photo of the various activities that take place around the Tomaso Bertollo nursery school (a deputy from the late 19th century), the pink building in the center of the photo. Many activities, when I was a child, no longer exist or have been replaced. There was the 2A stationery shop (where the Due Gabbiani pizzeria is today, even before Mrs. Nasi) to the left of the school, there was Tommasino, the shop that sold seeds and objects for farmers to the right of the school; On the other side of the road there was the florist (where Loris' fruit and vegetable shop is today), the Thea laundrette (now closed), the newsagent's (which is still there although under new management), the small tailor's shop and the Parchi bakery; a little further up there was the Il Genuino rotisserie of the good Maria while here on the right (not in the photo) Mario's dairy. Memories that will slowly fade from my memory too unfortunately!

The historic and noble Villa Sertorio in Sestri Levante. Some time ago I already wrote a post about this noble Villa in Sestri Levante but the photos in the post were not those of the actual villa but probably only those of an outbuilding or a house for the servants (here that post). This was the manor house which is currently located in Via Nazionale.

Villa Sertorio with its adjoining garden is located near the Sestri train station, between Corso del Gromolo and Via Nazionale. The Sertorio family was officially registered among the Genoese patricians in 1749, with the rectification from the original Sartorio, to avoid confusion with the homonymous family of the Riviera di Ponente. The underpass of Via Nazionale in Sestri Levante. One of the busiest points of Sestri is this. If I remember correctly, when I was a child the underpass, which is practically attached to the Gromolo torrent, was often flooded by little rain. Then a nice restoration was done and recently I have not heard of flooding in that area.

The Garibotto hardware store in Sestri Levante. One of the historic shops on Via Nazionale in Sestri is the Garibotto Gio-Batta hardware store. You could (and still can) find everything. I always remember the long queue of customers that there was and when I was a kid I always had trouble getting served because everyone always passed me by.
