The alleys of the historic center of Parma.
Walking in the beautiful historic center of Parma among craft shops, good food and history.
It is very reminiscent of one of the Ligurian caruggi of which I often post photos here.

Between the 7th and 8th centuries, following the conquest of Liguria by the Lombards, the Columban monks of Bobbio, who followed the rule of Saint Columbanus and continued their work of evangelization, built a monastery that over time grew to become a religious and economic nerve center. The birth of Brugnato is therefore linked to the foundation of the abbey which, like other monastic sites in Liguria and northern Italy, depended on the abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio.

A glimpse of Tellaro, a splendid seaside village in Liguria.
One of the Ligurian seaside villages with the most creuze and alleys that I can remember visiting.
In the province of La Spezia and perched on a small promontory overlooking the sea, it has a small labyrinth of stairs, arches and alleys in which it is wonderful to get lost.

Tellaro is the easternmost hamlet of the municipality of Lerici, in the province of La Spezia. It has been reviewed as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The town is a small seaside village, perched on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of La Spezia. A destination for many Italian and foreign artists, Mario Soldati found a home here during the long years of his old age.

Wandering around the historic center of Genoa, among the alleys that rise from the Porto Antico towards the modern center of the city, it is easy to come across beautiful and well-preserved buildings and monuments.
Like this 12th century tower built thanks to the riches obtained from the crusades.

The Embriaci Tower, also called the Embriaci Tower, located in the oldest part of Genoa, where the “castrum” stood, is linked to the name of Guglielmo Embriaco who “crusader […] returned victorious from Cesarea”. It is the only one of the many towers that were located in the current historic center of Genoa to have been spared by the edict of 1196 that wanted all the city towers to be cut to 80 palms.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, commonly known as the Florence Cathedral, is the main church of Florence, the symbol of the city and one of the most famous in Italy; when it was completed in the fifteenth century, it was the largest church in the world, while today it is considered the third in Europe after St. Peter's in Rome and the Milan Cathedral. It stands on the foundations of the ancient cathedral of Florence, the church of Santa Reparata, in a part of the city that has hosted places of worship since Roman times.
